The Sarawak Land and Survey Department (JTS) secured three gold awards under the ‘Public Service Innovation Asia (PSIA)’ category at the Malaysia Technology Expo (MTE) 2025, held at the World Trade Centre in Kuala Lumpur today.

In a release, the department said they earned the awards from the ‘Smart Patrol’ innovation project by JTS Mukah; ‘Retrace’ by JTS Sri Aman, and ‘i-Telcos (Intelligent Application of Telecommunication Tower System)’ from JTS Samarahan.

Additionally, JTS Kapit bagged a silver award through its ‘Sarawak Control Monument’ (Sarcom) innovation project.

The awards for the PSIA category were presented by Deputy State Secretary (Operations) Datu Hii Chang Kee.

“The i-Telcos project received a special award from the Haller Pro Invention Foundation in Poland, and Sarcom received a special award from the Toronto International Society of Innovation and Advanced Skills (TISIAS), Canada.

“Meanwhile, the Retrace project was honoured with a special award from the Japan Intellectual Property Association (JIPA) Japan, and the Smart Patrol project received a special award from the International Federation of Inventor’s Association (IFIA),” said JTS.

The PSIA serves as a platform for the public service sector to showcase internally developed innovations by its agencies, while encouraging improvements in service delivery effectiveness and quality for the public by leveraging the latest technological trends.

This year’s awards’ evaluation had considered the emphasis and adaptation of artificial intelligence (AI) in the innovation projects submitted.

A total of 20 exhibitors from various federal and state government agencies in Malaysia took part in the MTE 2025 under the PSIA category.
